A road drive across from Entebbe to Bwindi would take you about 8-10 hours but the fly-in would tremendously cut these hours down to about 1-2 hours with the magnificent aerial views of beautiful landscape of mountains, hills with cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas on Earth, where half the world’s population of the highly endangered mountain gorillas live in its jungles. The forest is a large primeval forest located in southwestern Uganda in the Kanungu District. It is on the edge of the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift, at altitudes ranging from 1,160 metres (3,810 ft) to 2,607 metres (8,553 ft).

Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival – Boma Guest House (B&B)
Arrival at Entebbe Airport where you will be welcomed and transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe (B&B) Boma Guest House where the guide will brief you on tomorrows start of the Fly-in Gorilla Trekking Tour.

DAY 2: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park (Ruhoma/Rushaga)
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for a domestic flight to Western Uganda. The scheduled flight departs at 07.45 hr and expected arrival time is 09.30 hr at Kisoro Airstrip. From here you will be picked by your guide and transferred by road (32Km/1.5 hour) to the home of the endangered mountain gorillas to start the anticipated Gorilla Trekking Tour adventure.

Note: Bwindi National Park is divided into 3 major sectors – Buhoma Ruhija and Rushaga Areas. Depending on the gorilla family available at the time of your booking, you might track EITHER one of the sectors. You either take a flight to Kihihi (Buhoma) or Kisoro (Rushaga). Timings will be confirmed after the aircraft routings are determined.
Check in at the lodge and have a relaxed lunch thereafter relaxation (B-L-D)

DAY 3: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast (6:30 am) head to the park headquarters and go through the formalities of track preparation and your guide will brief you on gorilla etiquette and other tips on a Gorilla Trekking Tour.

Gorilla Trekking through the thick undergrowth can be a strenuous task, albeit in the end, a rewarding one. Led by a park ranger, the actual trek to the gorillas’ resting place can be between 4 – 8 hours or less. Once your assigned gorilla group has been located you will spend 1 hour in their company. There after head back to the lodge for relaxation.(B-L-D)

DAY 4: Flight From Bwindi (Kisoro) – Entebbe
Breakfast and you will be transferred back to the airfield for your onward flight back to Entebbe Airport. You will be picked up by a company representative and transferred to your hotel or guest house.

Note: There are flights that depart in the afternoon from Central Bwindi unlike Southern Bwindi. If you prefer, you may engage in an activity early morning either a village walk, Batwa Experience or a nature walk if tracking the Buhoma Area to make it in time for the afternoon departure flight at 14.05 hr and arriving at 15.55 hr at Entebbe International Airport. The flight from southern Bwindi is at 09:10hrs arriving at 11:25hrs. (B-L-D

DAY 5: Departure
Enriched with an experience of a lifetime and unforgettable memories from the ultimate Fly-in Gorilla Trekking Tour, you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa. In time you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for your international flight. (B)
